Theology Series – Eucalyptus

Eucalyptus trees are native to Australia and Southeast Asia, but were unknown to western culture until the Cook expedition in 1770. Yet for centuries, Eucalyptus Oil was reputed in Asian cultures as a proven treatment for breathing problems and chest colds. Eucalyptus leaves have a high resin content; its essential oil is extracted through a steam process.   The oil is used in very small quantities in food supplements, sweets, cough drops, toothpaste, decongestants, aromatic essential oils, and in our incense to give a fresh, clean, and almost intoxicating scent.
